Provinces do everything possible to empower the funeral directors to make them professional and respected business persons for an example in KZN there is Ikhwelo Investment Group that has been formed for SAFPA members only. The Ikhwelo Investment Group has invested in a number of successful projects including farming and property development. This has enabled our members to develop interest in other spheres of business other than funeral businesses.
Training & Skills Development
The association organizes training programs for our members in various skills that have equipped our members and made them better undertakers. SAFPA has also assisted members to be registered with relevant organizations within the funeral space to ensure member compliance with institutions like FSCA and many others.
SAFPA Conferences and Workshops
The Association holds a national conference annually where members meet and interact. At the conference members are empowered in different ways including trainings, workshops with various governmental departments for an example Home Affairs, SARS, SETAS, Department of Health and many others.
These workshops make SAFPA members to clearly understand how these departments function and how they affect our funeral businesses’ day to day running. SAFPA is an association of undertakers that is professionally run and managed and it is open to all undertakers to come and join. All our members contribute positively in the professionalization of the funeral space and this was seen during the Covid-19 era when members came together and supported one another in ensuring that South Africans were laid to rest in a dignified manner regardless of how difficult it was to conduct our business during the height of the pandemic.

This partnership has led to the cash purchase of SAFPA head office in Benoni. The property is fully owned by SAFPA and it is the highlight of the SAFPA-Old Mutual relationship which has been around for more than 10 years.
